Problem Space
The goal of this project was to design a mobile app prototype to help UW students, especially those in Informatics, HCDE, and ID, connect with peers for collaborative, user-oriented projects. The focus was on creating a platform that allows users to easily find teammates based on shared interests, skills, and roles while fostering diverse and effective project teams.
Process
I conducted research to identify challenges students face in finding teams, gathered insights through interviews, and defined user needs. I ideated, sketched, and developed a mobile app prototype with features like advanced filtering, intuitive navigation, and profile customization. Usability testing was conducted to gather feedback and refine the design for an optimal user experience.
Solution
The app prototype enabled users to effortlessly connect with peers, improving team formation efficiency. Key features included streamlined filters for roles and interests, clear user profiles showcasing relevant skills, and prompts to encourage initiating and joining projects. Feedback from testing highlighted the app’s ability to simplify team-building and boost confidence in collaborating with new people.
